Officials from ATW Companies Inc. announce that its Judson A. Smith subsidiary has expanded its market share in the U.S. endoscopic laparoscopic device market. As a market leader in providing custom and precision metal tube components and assemblies for endosurgical applications, the company has expanded to serve the leading players in the estimated $4.1 billion market.
Judson A. Smith Company, located in Boyertown, PA, produces metal tube components and assemblies, widely used in instruments designed for minimally invasive surgical procedures. Judson Smith provides its tube fabrication and CNC machining capabilities to the largest players in the industry, with ISO 13485 certification to meet medical device quality standards.
By expanding its supply of tubing via a successful 2012 new product launch with a major medical device company, Judson grew its presence from serving approximately 39 percent of the endoscopy market to serving about 56 percent market share, proving its position as a trusted supplier to the vast majority of the growing endoscopic industry. Fueled, among other drivers, by the U.S. obesity epidemic, the market is expected to reach about $7.5 billion by 2018.
“Judson is one of the most highly specialized tube fabricators and machined component manufacturers in the world, making them an ideal fit for these forward thinking endoscopic device manufacturers,” states Tracy MacNeal, chief strategy officer, ATW’s. “Judson’s ability to offer precision tubing and machining, along with design assistance and prototyping to help customers move from concept to market provides customers one place for the specialized capabilities required for this fast-growing segment of the medical device market.”
