Small-sized, cost-saving inserts

In many turning applications, machinists tend to use larger inserts than are actually required for the machining parameters being applied. However, new Isoturn small-sized inserts provide an economical advantage in cost per cutting edge.The inserts are available in a range of geometries, corner radii, chip formers, and Sumo Tec carbide grades

Available geometries are WNMG 33.., WNMX 34.., CNMG 33.., CNMX 34.., SNMG 33.., DNMG 33.., TNMG 33.., and TNMX 34.., the inserts are generally thicker than standard inserts of the same sizes. This range of geometries provides higher durability to run at feed rates similar to larger inserts.

The WNMG 33.. 3/8" inscribed circle ECO inserts can cover about 75% of turning applications, as the most popular D.O.C. range is between 0.030" to 0.120". These small-sized inserts can handle this machining range with reduced costs, when compared to the 1/2" inscribed circle larger inserts being widely used in such applications. When 0.120" to 0.200" D.O.C. is required, the 1/2" inscribed circle insert size can be used.

Added geometries
Small-sized Heliturn LD inserts are now available in WNMX, CNMX, and TNMX geometries. These inserts, like their larger counterparts, have high positive radial helical cutting edges and positive rake angles – a combination that substantially reduces cutting forces and enables machining at higher cutting loads.

Increased capacity, smaller form factors

Three new types of lithium polymer batteries provide design engineers with new options for compact and higher power capacity rechargeable power sources for portable medical devices.

The expanded Renata 3.7V rechargeable Li-polymer battery portfolio includes smaller, lower-profile flexible foil cells, as well as batteries with higher power capacity. All the ICP Series lithium-polymer battery packs are rated for a nominal voltage of 3.7V, with a cycle life of more than 500 cycles (at 80% minimum capacity), and an internal safety circuit to prevent overcharging or deep-discharge conditions.

The ICP341018PA battery pack is a lightweight (1.7g) ultra-small form factor (19.5mm x 10.2mm x 3.7mm), with 35mAh typical capacity, for applications where space and weight are at a premium.

The ICP303450PA battery pack is an ultra-thin form factor (52.0mm x 34.5mm x 3.5mm), delivering 500mAh typical capacity for applications requiring a low mounted profile.

The ICP606168PRT battery pack is a higher capacity power source, providing 2,700mAh in a package measuring 71.0mm x 62.0mm x 6.7mm.

Acrylic-based multi- polymer compound

Cyrolite Protect 2, an acrylic-based multi-polymer compound developed for medical devices with antimicrobial agents, offers lipid and alcohol resistance in addition to the antimicrobial benefits of the original Cyrolite Protect. All Cyrolite Protect products are specifically designed for FDA regulated Class I or Class II medical devices covered by 510(k) PMN submission.

Lipid and alcohol contact can cause some plastic devices to fail, and Cyrolite Protect 2 has been designed to address this challenge. The multi-polymer compound allows healthcare workers to use lipid IV solutions or swab devices with alcohol without fear of environmental stress cracking (ESC).

Cyrolite Protect 2 provides antimicrobial capabilities against microorganisms such as Staphylococcus aureus, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and Staphylococcus epidermidis as tested by the JIS Z 2801 protocol.
