About the topic
As additive manufacturing (AM) solutions mature they are enabling the transition from rapid prototyping to production. The most compelling examples are those which allow product designers to pursue ideas which were previously impossible to manufacture. This presentation will review this strategy, and specific examples from Virgin Galactic and NASA in which assemblies were consolidated into single builds, utilizing multiple alloys in a single build, and with precision machined features trapped in the core, and the subsequently successful hot-testing of the rockets.
