For medical device manufacturers, a visible light cure adhesive eliminates exposure to UV rays, generates less heat, minimizes equipment costs and requirements, and reduces maintenance costs. Unavailable until now, Loctite Visible Light Cure technology from Henkel Corp., relies solely upon the visible light spectrum to delivery an immediate cure for a wide range of medical device assembly applications.
The technology includes a number of adhesives and dispensing and curing equipment that requires no venting or special protective equipment for worker safety. The adhesives cure through UV blocking clear and select color substrates, including translucent variations of blue, purple, gray, white and green.
It's possible to use Loctite Visible Light Cure on needles, syringes, tubing, connectors, hearing aids, fluid collection reservoirs and designs made with select translucent substrates that don't transmit UV light. Low heat output makes for excellent results on temperature sensitive substrates and devices such as pre-filled syringes.
