Northfield Precision Instrument's Model 350 standard 3 in. diameter (0.0001 T.I.R.) 3-jaw Air Chuck can be mounted to a BT-30 toolholder and modified for spring clamp/air open.
The chuck assembly mounts in a standard BT-30 vertical machining center, rotates up to 4,500 rpm, and is actuated via a coolant through spindle passage. This setup allows a standard VMC to be used as a vertical lathe, with a pallet on one side for automatic load/unload of the work pieces.
