McGrath X Blade for Extreme Airways

Aircraft Medical officials announce release of the McGrath X blade.

Designed for extremely challenging airways, the X blade extends the blade range and clinical application of the Aircraft Medical McGrath MAC video laryngoscope beyond routine and moderately difficult airways towards extreme airways, where a more acute anterior curvature and slimmer blade profile is needed.

The new blade builds upon the international clinical success of the super anterior McGrath Series 5 blade, trusted on more than half a million patients.

Commenting on the launch Matt McGrath, CEO of Aircraft Medical, said: "With the advance of video laryngoscopes, the definition of a difficult airway is changing. Our slim-line McGrath MAC blades allow both direct and enhanced indirect visualization, for fast and simple intubation in every day practice. We have seen increased adoption worldwide for use in both routine procedures and in many cases that would traditionally have been classed as difficult. In designing the X blade we wanted to create a blade for the extreme end of the difficult airways market. Slimmer and significantly less bulky than any blade we have produced before, the X blade is designed to encourage optimal technique and facilitate easier tube placement."

Compatible with the McGrath MAC video laryngoscope handles, the X blade benefits from a portrait display to help reduce blindspot as well as a number of other advantages offered by the robust and low maintenance McGrath MAC video laryngoscope system.
