Medical-grade material meets the most stringent requirements such as USP Class VI, MEM elution, agarose overlay, hemolysis in vitro, and USP physicochemical tests. The SRC connector provides medical personnel with a new alternative: a tubing connector that is designed to eliminate potential misconnections that can occur with luer fittings. In medical settings, accidental tubing misconnections to the wrong line or device, such as an air hose to an intravenous line, can be extremely dangerous to patients, if not deadly. As a result, the SRC connector is an excellent choice for a wide range of liquid media and gas applications such as blood and bodily fluid handling, and air driven devices.
"The SRC is a safer small bore connector for medical tubing applications," says Jim Brown, medical business unit manager. "Not only does it eliminate the potential for dangerous tubing misconnections with luer fittings, it has a more secure latch design and allows tubing rotation to prevent accidental disconnections or kinked tubing."
The intuitive design is simple to use and provides an audible "click" for added assurance of a secure, leak-free connection. No twisting is required to connect tubing. Users simply push the two halves together for an obvious, secure connection.
The SRC connector features a dual elastomeric seal. Integral to the body, it creates a smooth, gap-free flow path for improved flow characteristics, without any areas for fluid to collect.
Designed for use with 1/8" and 3/16" ID tubing, the small bore connector provides a smaller profile than other quick disconnect couplings. The SRC is made from Class VI, animal-free materials and can withstand gamma, e-beam and EtO sterilization.
The main components of the SRC series includes polypropylene with overmolded TPE pads, USP Class VI, and the integral seals are overmolded TPE, USP Class VI.
Features include reliable elastomeric seals inside the body, an audible click, and a positive feel. The SRC connector does not mate with a luer fitting, and allows tubing rotation. Applications include compression therapy devices, negative pressure wound therapy, blood or waste collection lines, and gas applications.
