Devon Medical Products Receives CE Mark for extriCARE

Approval allows extriCARE NPWT system to be sold in the European Union and other countries that recognize or require this.

Devon Medical Inc. received the CE mark for its portable extriCARE 2400 Negative Pressure Wound Therapy (NPWT) system. The CE mark designation will allow the extriCARE NPWT system to be sold in the European Union and other countries that recognize or require this approval.

The extriCARE system comprises the extriCARE 2400 pump, which weighs less than one pound, and Devon Medical’s anatomically fitted NPWT dressings. A dressing is applied to a wound to create a tight seal, and the pump’s pressure creates a negative pressure or vacuum environment that draws blood to the wound bed. The process also removes exudates into a disposable canister located on the back of the pump. NPWT has traditionally been used in facility settings, including hospitals, nursing homes, and long term care facilities.

“The extriCARE system has proven itself in the U.S. as a powerful device that healthcare professionals can rely on for the management of non-healing wounds, including diabetic ulcers and chronic, acute, traumatic, subacute, and dehisced wounds,” says Dr. John A. Bennett, founder and CEO of Devon Medical. “The device’s portability allows patients to receive wound healing treatment inside of their own home while participating in normal daily activities. We are excited to receive the CE mark as it will allow us to work with healthcare professionals to achieve similar patient compliance and positive outcomes across Europe and other parts of the world.”
