According to Sodick Corp., the AQ300L-MDC (Medical Device Center) wire EDM is considered to be the 24/7 turnkey solution for shops that machine medical instruments and implants.
With its compact design only occupying floor space of 4.5 ft. x 8.0 ft., the AQ300-MDC delivers axis travel of 12.0 in. in the X-axis, 8.0 in. in both the Y and Z-axes, and 3.1-in. in the U and V axes. The machine handles parts up to 20.0 in. x 12.0 in. x 8.0 in. with a maximum workpiece weight of 660 lb.
The optional Sodick made WS-4P auxiliary axis automatically indexes or rotates the workpiece. The programmable indexing axis is ideal for shops that EDM saw guides that require a taper angle up to 45°. To further enhance the automation process, the standard automatic wire threader handles a wire range of 0.012 to 0.006-in.
The AQ300L-MDC also includes high-end features such as linear motor drives, glass-scale feedback, anti-electrolysis circuit, and a fine-finish circuit.
The machine is equipped with a LN1W control, which comes with a 15-in. LCD touch-screen display. Standard onboard programming allows the operator to import and convert DXF files to NC code. In addition, the LN1W control provides automatic selection of cutting conditions and offsets, along with maintenance alerts. Remote networking/monitoring is optional.
