EMUGE EvoGrip: Modular workholding solution

The EMUGE EvoGrip is a modular workholding solution combining EvoGrip Centering Vises, the EvoPoint Zero-Point Clamping System, and the EvoBlock Riser System. Designed to deliver maximum clamping force and full 5-axis access in a compact solution setup, EvoGrip is well-suited for aggressive milling operations. It offers three basic vise widths of 70mm, 100mm, and 120mm, as well as clamping force options of 25kN, 50kN, and 75kN.

EvoGrip Centering Vises are manually operated and engineered for precise centric clamping. The robust yet slim, modular design enables multi-sided machining and facilitates easy integration into machining setups. Interchangeable top jaws can be mounted to the base jaw for use with different workpieces and machining requirements. An integrated interface for automation provides two holding bores on either side of the basic vise body for machine gripper interfacing, allowing quick robot-controlled changeovers to the next workpiece or a different workpiece altogether. Additional advantages include flexible coupling and single- or multiple-clamping options.

The integrated EvoPoint Zero-Point Clamping System provides automatic alignment using geometry similar to a pull stud, enabling fast, precise, and repeatable clamping in the micron range as well as the referencing of devices and workpieces on machine tools, machining centers, and coordinate measuring machines (CMMs). It’s capable of repeatable accuracy of 0.005mm and concentricity of ±0.02mm. High holding forces exceeding 150kN are possible thanks to a 150° enclosing form fit on the EvoPoint locating bolt, and it offers pulling forces up to 30kN. When the system is combined with EvoGrip Centering Vises, setup times can be reduced up to 80% versus when having to bolt down a clamping system. The EvoPoint Zero-Point Clamping System is available in different shapes including round, square, and rectangular.

Finally, the EMUGE EvoGrip Workholding System is supplemented with the EvoBlock system for machine table connections and riser options ranging from base plates to one-piece spacers, allowing users the flexibility to position parts exactly where they need them. EvoBlock is suitable for grid sizes 52mm and 96mm, and compatible with machine tables and grid plates. Machinable VarioBlock multi-piece spacers are also available for customizing a solution to accommodate workpiece height requirements.

The EMUGE EvoGrip Workholding System is modular and scalable – the vises and zero-point interfaces can be configured to fit any machine or job. While EMUGE has been known for its custom workholding solutions for challenging clamping applications, the EvoGrip Workholding System, its first standard centering vise system, still offers plenty of options. The solution, designed to be user-friendly and reliable, enables fast changeovers, high positioning accuracy, and strong holding force.
