Medical shops perform multiple operations in one setup.
Mid and high-volume medical shops are turning, boring, milling, and tapping in one setup on E Series turning centers. The machines are configurable with one or two spindles, C axes, live tools, and Y axes.
As part of the series, the E 320's main components rest on a solid base incorporating a special polygonal ribbed working platform with polygon-ribbed structure around a torque-tube core for minimal heat distortion and maximum vibration dampening. A torque-tube concept ribbed structure integrated in a one-piece cast iron body and filled with vibration-controlling materials supports the working platform on a 45° angle.
Headstocks have high-precision spindle bearings grease lubricated for life and deliver minimal temperature variations, even when running continuously at maximum speeds. Left spindles feature belt-driven, cartridge-style gearless headstocks with high-torque 25 or 35-hp variable-drive motors.
Also with 25-hp variable-speed motors, right A2-6-in. spindles are rigidly mounted and deliver 4 to 4,500 rpm. Through-hole capacities measure 2.87 in. for barstock up to 2.56 in.
The E 320's tailstock is fully programmable and mounted on linear guideways. A hydraulic cylinder anchored to the machine's base drives the tailstock.
There are three turret options: the basic servo-driven T turret for standard turning tools; the motor-driven M turret for live tools; and the motor-driven MY turret, which is an M turret for live tools combined with a Y -axis assembly.
