Partnering for Brazil’s growing manufacturing industry

Okuma America Corp. has partnered with Maquinas e Solucoes Servicos de Representacao e Manutencao de Equipamentos Ltda (M&S), a member of the Molgroup alliance of companies, which will distribute Okuma products and services in Brazil effective immediately.

“By partnering with Maquinas e Solucoes (M&S) in Brazil, we will be able to further strengthen our offering and value proposition for customers in Brazil,” says Tim Thiessen, senior vice president of Sales & Marketing at Okuma America Corp. “Customers in the region will now be supported by M&S and Okuma Latino Americana, an Okuma affiliate office in the region.” Okuma and M&S share a common mission to provide high-quality, high-performance machine tools and automation systems as well as premium support to Brazil’s expanding manufacturing industry. Appointments, retirements, promotions

Hirano, Haag

Tomoaki Hirano succeeds Tom Haag as president of KYOCERA SGS Precision Tools after Haag’s retirement. Haag was with SGS Precision Tools since 1984 and held the role of president since 2000, continuing his leadership through the acquisition by KYOCERA Corp. in 2016. Post-retirement, he’ll continue to support the company in an advisory role during the leadership transition. Hirano has been with the KYOCERA Group for more than 25 years, including acting as executive vice president of KSPT for the past three years. Prior to that, he held multiple roles for KYOCERA in Japan, Germany, and North Carolina, including most recently as president of KYOCERA do Brasil Componentes Industriais. https://www.kyocera-sgstool.com

Briggs

Derek Briggs has been appointed director of engineering at Tsugami America. Briggs has been part of the company for more than a decade in engineering and product management roles. Prior to his time with Tsugami America, Briggs worked on Tsugami Swiss Machines at Bil-Mac Corp. in Michigan and F&F Machine Products in Indiana. In his new role, he’ll oversee the new Process Development Center at Tsugami America corporate headquarters, the application engineering department, and the product management team. https://www.tsugamiamerica.com/

Adelman

Robert Adelman has been promoted to head of product group at BLM GROUP USA. Since joining the company in 2015, Adelman has held multiple positions focused on its tube laser offering, including tube laser trainer, applications specialist, and applications engineer. For the past six years, he held the position of North American laser product manager. Prior to joining BLM GROUP, Adelman served in the U.S. Navy as a submarine fire control technician and master training specialist and studied electrical and electronics engineering at Tidewater Community College. In his new role, he’ll be responsible for leading the company’s team of product managers and business development managers, with the aim of delivering product solutions to meet the evolving needs of its customers. https://www.blmgroup.com
