CAD/CAM software update

Mastercam 2026 introduces several productivity enhancements along with advanced machining capabilities and AI-enabled CAM intelligence.

A key feature is the redesigned Solid Hole Functionality, providing manufacturers with improved control over hole creation in solid models through a new three-panel interface – geometry selection, hole style, and advanced options.

Mastercam 2026 expands mill-turn functionality with Classic Mill Toolpath Support, enabling manufacturers to leverage existing Surface Rough, Surface Finish, and Wireframe legacy toolpaths previously only found in Mill environments. PrimeTurning updates include enhanced angled cuts, pinch turning capabilities, and improved finishing options for increased flexibility in complex turning operations.

Mastercam 2026 includes access to an early adopter program featuring the AI-powered programming assistant Mastercam Copilot. The initial release includes a Help system with natural-language guidance for programming questions and a Command function guiding users through the programming process through user interface automation.

PCD milling system

The DM 50 series is a replaceable head milling system designed for efficient, cost-effective machining of aluminum. The primary wear areas – the head and inserts – can be easily replaced, along with an intermediate sleeve allowing for different cutting heights. This modular design enables quick adaptation to a variety of applications while keeping operating and maintenance costs low.

The tool can be quickly adjusted for different corner radii and chamfers at the desired cutting height. The 2:1 arrangement of inserts on the face and periphery is tailored for diverse milling strategies and application needs.

The DM 50 offers reliable, precise indexing and optimized axial geometry, enabling smooth cutting, excellent surface finishes, and accurate results with every changeover.

Laser processing for brazed tools

The VISION LASER is the latest addition to the WALTER tool making and measuring line. Based on the HELITRONIC VISION platform, the machine features laser technology suited for a range of applications for brazed tools. It offers all options for processing, including PCD, CVD, MKD, and carbide. Its industrial laser system allows for a range of applications, chip- and crack-free cutting edges, machining of complex geometries, and operation without consumables.

The VISION LASER enables production in one clamp with high cutting speed, seamless material processing, and optimal surface finish. It uses GTR ProfDia Laser software, similar to GTR ProfDia Erosion, allowing GTR-experienced users to easily transition into the operation of the VISION LASER. The system offers precise and efficient laser processing of tools with high quality requirements.
