Heraeus Sensor Technology has introduced two miniature ceramic wirewound Platinum temperature sensors with footprints smaller than any other wirewound element currently available. Ceramic wirewound Platinum sensors are used in applications requiring a wide operating temperature range and high measurement stability. Types KN1008 and KN3005, with diameters of 0.8mm and 0.5mm, can be used in applications previously off-limits to wirewound elements due to size constraints. In addition, the small diameter results in response times of 0.2 seconds (T0.5, water current 0.4m/s). The elements are supplied in accordance with the IEC 60751 specification. Possible applications include life science instrumentation, gas chromatography, laboratory freezers & ovens, spectrometers, lasers, chemical processing, power generation, thermoelectric devices, pH sensors, conductivity cells, in vitro diagnostics, digital thermometers, calorimeters, flow sensors, and gas detectors.
