More and more industries are discovering the advantages of precision CNC machining; unfortunately many are unable to fit a "normal" CNC machine into their facility. The OM series Office Mills from Oxnard, CA-based Haas Automation, Inc. provide a solution.
These ultra-compact machines are small enough to fit through a 36" doorway, and can easily be moved with a pallet jack or an equipment dolly. With their small size and light weight, the OM machines fit into most freight elevators, and with its optional caster kit, they can be rolled from one location to another. The machines run on single-phase power (240V AC).
The OM-1 features a work envelope of 8" x 8" x 8" (X-Y-Z), while the OM-2 has a work envelope of 12" x 10" x 12", providing more capacity in the same footprint. Both machines feature a 20" x 10" T-slot table, and come equipped with a 50,000rpm brushless micro-motor spindle that accepts tools up to ¼" shank size.
Both the OM-1A and OM-2A feature a Haas-designed and -built ISO 20-taper spindle (30,000rpm) and 20-pocket automatic tool changer.
Maximum cutting feeds for all OM models are 500ipm, with rapids up to 757ipm for reduced cycle times. The user-friendly Haas control makes set up and operation simple. Standard equipment includes a 15" LCD monitor with USB port, 1MB of program memory, a coolant system, automatic lubrication, and high-speed machining software with full look-ahead. A number of high-productivity options are also available.
For full 4th- and/or 5th-axis operation, Haas has designed a pair of ultra-compact rotary tables that fit easily into the work envelope of the Office Mills. The HRT 110 is a single-axis rotary table, and the TR 110 is a dual-axis trunnion table. Both units index at up to 300° /sec, and provide 65 ft/lb of spindle torque for simultaneous 4th or 5th-axis machining. They each feature a 110mm (4.33") platter that accepts a variety of workholding and fixturing options.
