The AGV-CPO CORE Performance 2-Axis Laser Scan Head is designed to suit a wide range of laser applications. Offering flexibility, high resolution, and advanced controls, the AGV-CPO allows users to scale their processes with minimal effort and cost. Like Aerotech’s other products in its AGV line of high-performance 2-axis laser scan heads, the AGV-CPO uses digital optical encoders and advanced materials to enable excellent resolution and dynamics for the most demanding laser applications.

The AGV-CPO leverages Automation1, Aerotech’s powerful, unified programming environment simplifying system integration, enabling data visualization, and producing sophisticated, coordinated motion paths. This single controller architecture allows users to easily control up to 32 servo and galvo axes. It operates natively on RS-274 compliant G-Code, enabling nearly any CAM software to generate trajectories for it so it can be molded to work with the user’s process development software stack. Additional scanners can be controlled with advanced C-transformations to create complex multi-axis trajectories for all axes connected to the controller.

Infinite field of view (IFOV) seamlessly integrates scanner motion with servo stages, expanding the effective working area and eliminating stitching errors or complex part repositioning. This improves accuracy and cycle times. Position synchronized output (PSO) enables highly accurate laser firing based on real-time position feedback from the scanner mirror position and any coordinated servo stage positions, ensuring the consistent energy delivery demanded by applications such as precise cutting, welding, and additive manufacturing (AM).

Integrated motor water cooling and scanner mirror air cooling ensure ultra-low thermal drift, minimizing process drift over time. Dual digital encoder feedback eliminates velocity error and enables single-digit micrometer-level accuracy throughout the scanner’s field of view (FOV).

The AGV-CPO is available in 10mm, 14mm, and 20mm input apertures. Its 100kHz trajectory planning and 200kHz servo rates ensure optimal motion tracking and minimal jump-and-settle times. With 22-bit effective scanner resolution, <100µrad accuracy and <0.6µrad RMS repeatability, the AGV-CPO exceeds industry standards for precision. The motors’ dynamics are optimized for the most demanding laser processing applications with peak accelerations up to 225,000m/s2 and speeds up to 75m/s with zero tracking error.

The AGV-CPO is suitable for applications including laser process development and research, ultrafast laser processing, high-speed drilling and cutting, micromachining, and surface texturing. Because all AGV 2-axis laser scan heads are controlled by the Automation1 PC-based controller and Automation1 GL4 2-axis laser scan head drive, they’re easily upgradable without requiring additional control hardware.
