For shop owners who hate to part with their old mechanically-driven cam systems, but feel they must to compete globally, Tornos offers the new Micro 7 CNC Swiss turning center. This modular machine is ideal for parts up to 0.28" (7mm) in diameter and has a very small footprint, taking up about the same amount of floor space as the old screw machines it is designed to replace.
One big advantage of the Micro 7 over cam machines is that it achieves precision of ±2µm and to make cam users comfortable, the Micro 7 can be programmed in TB-DECO or ISO. The Micro 7 is built with 20 interchangeable tool positions, and is ideal for long parts up to 2½" (60mm). Maximum speed of bar rotation is 20,000rpm.
Key features of the Micro 7 are:
- Five linear axes are perfectly adapted for complex parts, giving the machine an excellent price-to-performance ratio
- Precision of ±2µm in production
- Great for longer workpieces of average complexity
- Eliminates costly secondary operations
- Simultaneous operations on spindle and counter-spindle
- Optimum swarf removal prevents unforeseen stoppages
- Extensive access to machining area
- Identical power and speed of spindle and counter-spindles
- Pre-setting system allows for major time savings at tool changeover
- Rigid, cast-iron structure offers great stability, minimizes thermal and vibration effects
- Ideal for emerging mini-disc sector for mobile IT applications
