Solid Carbide End Mills. HMC Productivity in a Vertical Platform. Lightweight Micro Manipulator System.

Solid Carbide End Mills
Prototyp Proto?max Ultra ball-nose end mills, specially engineered for efficient machining of hard materials, offer enhanced machining performance and tool life, even when machining hard ISO-H materials.

The end mills come in two different diameter ranges: the standard versions from 3mm to 12mm diameter and the mini versions for small to extremely small contours, ranging from 0.1mm to 2.5mm. For the smaller diameter range, the Proto?max Ultra’s reduced neck and its reach of up to 10xD are beneficial for the machining of deep cavities. This results in excellent concentricity properties, which are essential at the high speeds achieved by small tool diameters.

Key features include a highly heat-resistant TiAlSiN-based coating, known as TAS for short, while an optimized geometry stabilizes the cutting edges. All diameters have two cutting edges and a helix angle of 30º.

HMC Productivity in a Vertical Platform

The Makino PS-Series vertical machining centers offer a reduction in cycle time, increased productivity, improved quality, and minimization of capital investment. The PS-Series features a field-proven design with key technologies from several of Makino’s most reliable production machines. Its rigid construction, thermal stability, and versatile spindle are ideal for a variety of applications.

Makino’s PS-Series comes standard with a high power 33.5hp and a high-speed 14,000rpm CAT40 spindle delivering 130ft/lb peak torque.

The PS-Series is available in two models: the PS65 and PS95. The smaller PS65 features X-, Y-, and Z-axis travels of 26", 20", and 18.1", respectively; a 36.2" x 20" table; and a maximum workload of 1,323 lb. The larger PS95 features X-, Y-, and Z-axis travels of 36.2", 20", and 18.1", respectively; a 46" x 20" table; and a maximum workload of 1,763 lb.

Both models are standard with a 30-tool-capacity automatic tool changer.

Created with the production environment in mind, the PS-Series chip and coolant systems enhance the productivity of the machine. Configured with flood, overhead shower, flush, and through-spindle coolant as standard features, users obtain efficient and effective chip removal from the cutting zone. Spiral chip augers located in the front and rear of the worktable quickly and efficiently evacuate chips and coolant from the machining zone and into a standard lift-up chip conveyor (LUCC).

The PS-Series also features Makino’s Professional P control software configured to support a wide variety of applications in the job-shop and production environment. Configured with generous program storage (4,200ft), 400 registerable programs, 400 tool-offset pairs, and 48 pairs of work coordinate systems, the Professional P provides ample standard capabilities for production shops of all sizes.
