Implanting success

Grooving, parting tooling

Expansion of the TungCut series for grooving and parting supports multiple applications and varying machining needs. TungCut’s 2-cornered inserts reduce tooling cost while the clamping system delivers stable tool life and machining accuracy.

The expansion includes DTX insert with 6mm groove width, toolholders applicable for both external and face grooving, round shanks for grooving on the end face of a deep hole, and external grooving toolholders with new options of groove depths.

Filterless mist collectors Amano

MJ filterless mist collectors use sizing disk and cyclone technology to collect and filter oil mist and water-soluble mist. MJ collectors trap 99.9% of mist, and since no filter replacements are required, operation costs are reduced. The fully sealed design is capable of maintaining suction for an extended time with a noise level of 72dB.

The mist collectors are available in three models, each with a collection capacity of more than 770cfm, and for a variety of filtering applications. Their compact design can be mounted directly on the machine tool or on a stand next to it.

Modular units

Modular units can be combined in numerous ways for safe and efficient handling of heavy loads in assembly operations. Modules provide horizontal and vertical rotating, tilting, and lifting of workpieces with hydromechanical or electric operation. The modular units can be used in conjunction with carts, floor modules, plates, clamps, or height adjustable tables.

Performance toolholding system

The ERos simple, ultra-precise, high-performance, high-velocity toolholding system provides concentricity of less than 0.00012" at 3x the diameter. Tight manufacturing tolerances in the design of the collet seat and collet nut provide high grip force. The chuck body and nut use two pilot diameters, one above and one below the threads, to offer the best radial position to the seat, eliminating clamping distortion. All holders are balanced to 2.5g-force and the aerodynamic design of the nut provides performance at high speeds without unbalance or vibrations.

Mill/turn machining

The ICON 6-150 has four machining stations and two dedicated loading/unloading stations. Equipped with a six-position table, it shuttles pallets to four machining modules for fast, ultra-precision cutting. Each of these four machining modules has one cartridge-style motor spindle. Each spindle is selected for the type of cutting to be performed at that station.

Four servo-driven, direct drive B-axis motors are installed on stations two, three, five, and six and have a position accuracy of ±4 sec. Each table is equipped with a zero-point clamping system, made by EROWA, to clamp the base pallet to the B-axis motors. The positional repeatability of these pallets is 0.002mm. An optional 350N·m disc brake can be added for precise positioning during heavy cutting at an elevated level of force. Stations one and four are for loading, unloading, gaging, A/B loading, and inverting for sixth-side machining.

These four cutting stations produce five-sided machining with 4-axis interpolation, six sides if the idle station is used for workpiece inversion. Each machining unit is equipped with its own HSK E40 size, 12-tool changer allowing for maximum tooling flexibility.

Workpieces are mounted by hand or by robotics on pallets, then transferred to each station by the rotary table. At each of the four machining stations, the B-axis motors engage with the pallets for indexing or turning the workpieces. Part sizes can range up to 150mm in diameter with height dependent on part configuration, workholding, and cutting force requirements.

This multi-station transfer technology enables simultaneous machining on all four stations, making it suited for medium- to high-production of complex workpieces requiring multiple operations, complex cuts, and tight tolerances.
