Okuma series demonstrates basic CNC control procedures

With the variety of machine tools available, operators must learn more than one type of control. Okuma offers a video series featuring THINC-OSP and FANUC controls, demonstrating the ease of use and similarity of these two types of controls for Okuma CNC machines. The videos are quick references and training tools, relevant for new operators or seasoned operators learning a new control.

Three videos show side-by-side, systematic procedures for basic operations on OSP and FANUC CNC controls, illustrating that the required keystrokes are not markedly different.

The demonstrations include:

  • Program select
  • Tool length offset
  • Work zero offset

Access tool data anytime

Three new apps for Zoller’s TMS Tool Management Solutions software give users access to tool data at any time from any location. Remote access to master data, graphics, warehouse information, warehouse inventory, tool service lives, or reasons for replacement can be documented on an iPhone or iPad.

The App for the Bronze TMS package enables users to view single components, setting sheets, and tools. The software identifies the detailed data and drawings via the mobile device’s built-in camera using the barcode or QR code and data matrix.

With the Silver app, tools can be put into and taken out of storage, and the storage location selected remotely. Users can enter stock items in the warehouse system from anywhere and receive information on where their tools are located. A three-dimensional graphic displays the tools storage location in the cabinets and allows for tool managment.

Using the Gold app allows creation of tool service-life entries – query service lives directly on the machine to learn reasons for replacement. The corresponding statistics on tool service lives or information on suppliers and delivery times is available remotely.

All are available from the App store for the iPhone and iPad with iOS 7 and 8. www.zoller-usa.com
