Ceramic Heater Technology
Available in either Aluminum Nitride (AlN) or Alumina (Al2O3) is Durex Industries’ ceramic heater technology. Ceramic heater technologies offer significant advantages over metal based sheath heaters that have limitations in thermal performance or material compatibility. Durex’s ceramic heaters can operate in atmospheric and vacuum environments up to 1,652°F (900°C). Streamlining 5-Axis Machining
The Mikron HPM 450U milling solution has a new torque rotary/tilt table for unencumbered, interference-free 5-axis machining. The Mikron HPM 450U’s maximum X-Y traverse paths measure 23.62" and 17.2", respectively, with a Z-axis that provides 17.72" clearance between the table surface and spindle nose. Furthermore, the machine has a fast rotary table speed of 140rpm and an ample tilting range of -120°/+45°.

The machine’s high-performance Step-Tec spindle is available in a 12,000rpm version with an ISO 40 taper for conventional tooling technologies and programs, or in a 20,000rpm version with an HSK-A63 taper for machining a wide variety of materials.

High-Speed, Three-Turret, Multitasking Turning Center
The Nakamura-Tome NTY3-250 multitasking turning center features three high rigidity turrets, each holding 12 driven or 24 stationary tools, and a Y-axis of 4.4" (112mm). The NTY3-250 can eliminate downtime due to tool changeovers with its 72-tool capacity, allowing for short cycles times and complete turning/machining/finishing capabilities, providing X-axis and Z-axis speeds of 1,181ipm and 1,574ipm, respectively. Designed with a long 47.24" (1,200mm) distance between spindles to eliminate any interference of tooling during multitasking, the NTY3-250 allows for multiple tools in the cut simultaneously. The NTY3-250 features a 60° slant bed.

The NTY3-250 has a maximum turning diameter of 8.86"(225mm), a maximum turning length of 35.65"(905.5mm), and a 2.5" (65mm) bar capacity.

Advanced Universal Hydraulic Toolholder
A new era of tool clamping is available when using the Schunk Tendo E compact. With this advanced toolholder, it is no longer required to use different holder technologies for milling, drilling, and reaming. For the first time ever, hydraulic expansion toolholders can safely transfer torques of up to 520Nm (384ft/lb) at a 20mm clamping diameter, and are perfectly suited for high volume cutting. With excellent vibration damping and precise runout accuracy of less than 0.003mm (0.0001") at 2.5 x D, the Tendo E compact protects the machine spindle and the cutting tool from damage. The hydraulic expansion toolholder works well across the application range from rough milling to finish operations such as reaming and fine milling.

In roughing operations, use of Tendo E compact has seen tool cost reductions of up to 40%. An Allen key enables quick changing of the tools, making this hydraulic expansion toolholder an alternative for operations where the toolholder quantities do not justify peripheral equipment purchases.

Common spindle connections are available, including interfaces HSK-A63, SK40, BT40, CAT40, and CAT50.

Length Measurement System
The Precimar PLM 600-2 high precision length measuring systems provides the capability to measure parts in their undeformed state as a standard feature.

The Mahr deformation correction function is fully automated and available as part of the standard application tools set in the Precimar PLM 600-2 system’s controller. The procedure automatically modifies the measuring force in a specified sequence, while reliably recording the corresponding change in the part’s size. The Precimar PLM 600-2 initially generates a measuring force of 1.2N, then automatically reduces the measuring force in steps of 0.02N from 1.2N to 0.8N, and determines the corresponding values.

This highly accurate measuring system has a 5-axis, finely adjustable, universal object table; a modern PC-based machine control for several axes; and a PC workstation with basic 828 WIN Free Measuring software.

Excellent Wire EDM Finishes
The SP-300iA 5-axis CNC wire EDM features the latest Microsparking Technology, the MST-II function, which provides exceptional part finishes. Built for rigidity, the machine has a Meehanite cast honeycomb base, highly-ribbed column mounted with oversized U-V-Z axis, and reinforced lower arm for added stiffness.

The X, Y, Z working range is 13.8" x 9.8" x 8.7" while U and V axes are both 3.15". Placed in a cabinet above the working area, the U-V axis mechanism assures optimal rigidity and protection from humidity and physical damage. Driving of the axes is by means of closed-loop AC servomotors with 0.000004" resolution and controlled by a linear glass scale feedback system. The SP-300iA also incorporates the latest generation ball-retainer type guideways, which reduce 90% of friction variation compared to conventional guideways.
