Heraeus Medical Components, one of the industry’s leading contract medical device manufacturers, has started operations in its new centralized Collaboration Hub in Minneapolis. This new facility enables medical device customers and partners to work on-site with Heraeus Medical Components engineers, designers, materials scientists, and manufacturing experts on quick-turn prototyping, testing, and pilot production of new products and treatment innovations.

The investment in the new 6,200m2 Collaboration Hub is designed to help medical device customers address one of their most critical priorities – getting their products and innovations to market faster. Collaborative outsourcing has become an increasingly important business model for medical device manufacturers to augment their internal teams and accelerate product development. The new Collaboration Hub provides customers the opportunity to work on-site with Heraeus Medical Components research and development (R&D) experts using the facility’s test lab, clinical simulation lab, training lab, machining room, and pilot production capabilities.

With the final move-in of technical experts, pilot production lines, and R&D equipment now complete, the site is advancing and initiating new product development activities with medical device partners around the world. “Collaborative solutions for our partners are at the core of our culture,” says Ryan Peters, head of the Collaboration Hub. “The carefully selected skillsets of our technical teams and our state-of-the-art technologies provide a very exciting opportunity for medical device customers to speed up medical device innovations.”

Heiko Specht, Executive Vice President of Innovation, sees the Collaboration Hub as an accelerator for customers and partners to cultivate new ideas, materials, and technologies to develop the next breakthrough innovation or treatment.

“I am very proud to have all the necessary disciplines under one roof,” Specht says. “This approach will be a difference-maker. It will help our customers get their products from concept to the real world even faster.”
