Global Flying Hospitals takes a step towards fulfillment as the “Helpmate to the World’s Humanitarian Medical Charities” by initiating the design of the first Boeing 747-300 interior hospital. The Boeing 747 takes the role of fleet flagship and will be available to charities needing the logistic resource to expand their reach opening further avenues for medical care to suffering people in developing countries worldwide.
From Wish List to High-Tech Surgical Hospital
The charities specifications require a state-of-the-art mobile unit offering the best layout, equipment, and facilities as well as an inspiration and show-piece to demonstrate what can be done to help our ailing planet. This new breed concept of flying hospital helped develop a wish list incorporating innovation, creativity, and effectiveness with reception/pre-op, dual surgical units, and recovery rooms.
Teams Working Together
Aurora Engineering LLC, of Michigan sanctioned a consulting Services Agreement with Siemens Medical in July 2009 following the awarding by Global Flying Hospitals to Aurora Engineering for a 3D CAD walk-through of the on board high-tech hospital. The agreement allows the engineering department at AE to work with Siemens Medical design staff to achieve the desired goals of the charities.
Siemens Medical is a leading authority in surgical requirements, modern medical equipment, patient flow and staffing. The Boeing 747 is a new platform for Siemens Medical but their medical background along with Aurora Engineering’s design background has allowed the project to begin.
With the alliance of all parties the Board of Global Flying Hospitals is assured the latest and most sophisticated technological equipment is on board when medical missions to isolated countries are needed. Charities in the field who tap this powerful logistics resource combined with GFH’s medical field clinics and medical e-learning will have access to the latest and greatest medical care for patients worldwide.
