Biomerics' Open House, Ribbon-Cutting Event

March 23, 2012 will see a large, well-attended event Biomeric's new facility in Salt Lake City, UT.

Biomerics LLC, a leading supplier of polymer solutions to the medical device and healthcare industries, will host an Open House and Ribbon-Cutting Event at its Salt Lake City facility on Friday, March 23, 2012. The open house luncheon will be from 11:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and the Ribbon-Cutting Event for invited guests from 4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.

The events are being hosted by Biomerics, Utah Governor’s Office of Economic Development (GOED), the Salt Lake City Chamber of Commerce, The Utah Technology Council (UTC), the Utah Science Technology and Research Initiative (USTAR), BioInnovations Gateway (BiG), the Intermountain Biomedical Association (IBA), and MD4 Utah. The purpose of the open house is to highlight and celebrate Biomerics’ recent plant expansion at its Salt Lake City headquarters. The open house will include tours of the facility’s labs, polymer production lines, and medical device assembly operations.

“This Open House represents a great opportunity to witness the results of many governmental, civic, and private initiatives to invest in and grow the life science and medical device market in Utah,” states Natalie Gochnour, SLC Chamber of Commerce. “The event will provide the Utah life science and medical device community the opportunity to network and celebrate the industry’s growth.”

“We are excited to host the industry and showcase the hard work of many individuals,” states Travis Sessions, President and CEO of Biomerics. “Biomerics’ growth and recent clean room expansion is a direct result of Utah’s focus and investment in the life science industry, including House Bill 496 (The Technology and Life Sciences Economic Development Act, one of UTC’s high priorities which it successfully lobbied for passage of and encouraged its members to apply for the funding). This act supports the development of new medical device technologies by various Utah-based medical device companies. Our expansion and job creation is directly related to these investments and the industry’s commitment to expand this market.”

“The life science industry accounts for over 26,185 jobs in the State with an average salary 54% higher than the state average,” says Tami Goetz, GOED Life Science Advisor. “We celebrate Biomerics’ recent expansion, and remain committed and focused on making economic development a No. 1 priority for the state.”

The Ribbon Cutting will be attended by business leaders, press, and supporters of Utah’s life science and medical device industries.
