Colder Products Gets Technology of the Decade Award

BioProcess Int'l honors the company's Steam-Thru Connections product.

Colder Products Company, designer and manufacturer of single-use connection technology and connectors for the life sciences markets, announces that its Steam-Thru Connections product offering has been awarded Technology of the Decade in the manufacturing pillar category by the 2012 BioProcess International Awards. The awards, whose theme is “Honoring a Decade of BioProcess,” recognize the products, services, partnerships, and people that have had the greatest positive impact on bioprocessing.

The first single-use connection technology to create a sterile connection between stainless steel processing equipment and single-use systems, Colder’s Steam-Thru Connections enable a quick and easy sterile connection, minimize risk of cross-contamination, and reduce labor for cleaning and validation. The Steam-Thru Connection II also provides the ability to steam-off the connection after fluid transfer to provide a sterile disconnection that isolates the production suite or its operators from hazardous process fluids.

“Colder Products Company is honored to accept this award for our Steam Thru Connections,” says John Boehm, business unit manager, bioprocessing markets. “This is a testament to Colder’s engineering team and the innovative connection solutions they are creating to drive the industry forward with closed system designs that enhance process flexibility while maintaining product sterility.”

The 2012 BioProcess International Awards were determined through a judging process by peers and industry experts. BioProcess International (BPI) is a business-to-business publication focused on the development and manufacture of biopharmaceuticals and therapeutics.

The Technology of the Decade award is the first for Colder from the BPI Awards.
