Bosch Rexroth has opened a new technical center in Pleasanton, CA to provide local engineering and application support for customers in the semiconductor and medical industries.
Wolfgang Dangel, president and CEO for Bosch Rexroth in North America said the new center will provide "face to face" engineering support for customer engineering departments during their complete product development cycle. This includes working closely with customers to define application requirements, generating technical solutions and commissioning and testing prototypes. Ultimately, the center is a direct link to Bosch Rexroth’s technology groups including electric drives and controls, linear motion and assembly, and pneumatics.
"Global customers want global suppliers that can provide greater system responsibility," explained Dangel. "Bosch Rexroth is an engineering specialist with a unique portfolio of systems and components supported by application know-how. Our goal with the new technology center is to focus on OEM customers in this region, helping them define and develop products and systems with multi-discipline support and solutions."
Dangel estimates strong growth in the semiconductor OEM and medical manufacturing markets due to an increasing trend for equipment builders to outsource their motion control needs.
"We’ve positioned Bosch Rexroth as a key problem-solver and design partner in both of these markets," elaborated Dangel. "We can offer solutions not just as individual components, but also as combined products all from one source to help OEMs streamline their machine design, engineering, supply chain and assembly needs. This allows them to concentrate more on differentiating high-value products for their customers."
The company’s servo motors, drives, and controls, HMIs, and I/O systems allow precise multi-axis control. Its linear motion Ball Rail® and ball screw systems cover a broad range of speeds, precision, and load capacity and include cleanroom-certified systems. Its pneumatics line includes miniature and standard valves and cylinders, non-contact transfer units, rotary indexers, wafer-handling frames, and grippers. Beyond its motion control products, Bosch Rexroth also provides cleanroom-certified structural aluminum framing that allows fast configuration of everything from ergonomic workstations to work cells. Bosch Rexroth AG, part of the Bosch Group, achieved sales of approximately $5.7 billion (4.6 billion Euro) in 2005 with over 28,200 employees. Under the brand name of Rexroth the company offers all drive and control technologies, from mechanics, hydraulics and pneumatics to electronics and associated service. Over 500,000 customers worldwide utilize Rexroth’s unique technological know-how to implement their innovative and future-oriented systems and machine concepts. The global player, represented in over 80 countries, is an extensive supplier of components and systems for industrial and factory automation and mobile applications.
