Celeritive Technologies has become the fastest ever to sell the first 1,000 seats of high-speed machining software to the CAM industry. The 1,0000th seat of VoluMill was sold to Mastercam user Advanced Machining Services (AMS) of Bend, OR.
VoluMill is a CAM-neutral, ultra-high-performance, plug-in toolpath engine to be used in place of traditional roughing methods when ease of programming, reducing cycle times, extending tool life, and reducing the stress on machine tools is a priority. This easy-to-use software program allows the programmer to determine and use the optimum material removal rate for any combination of part geometry, material, machine and cutting tool. The toolpath engine uses only ideal machining principles as a basis to design a toolpath.
“Reaching this milestone as fast as we did says a lot about our product,” says Larry Lynott, Celeritive Technologies’ vice president of sales. “We did it with no advertising in the worst business environment imaginable,” Lynott explains.
“Everyone who uses VoluMill loves it because it helps them cut costs so much, they can’t stop talking about it.”
AMS is a full-service CNC machining and design shop that specializes in precision-machined aerospace components and custom projects. High productivity and quality are a must for AMS in this competitive market segment.
“VoluMill has been the savior of our operation,” explains Mark Christiansen, AMS’s manufacturing engineer. “We are very busy as a result of our quality and relationships, but gaining new customers in this competitive market is a struggle when many shops will lowball to get in the door. Now, with VoluMill, we can not only beat their prices, but keep the prices low as a result of being much more competitive.”
Tim Rowley, co-founder of MCAM Northwest, which provides CAD/CAM-related products, services and training for companies in Oregon, southwest Washington, Idaho, Alaska and Hawaii, says, “VoluMill is an outstanding product that provides a high level of extra value to the CAM system we offer, and it provides a nice source of additional revenue to our operation.”
Celeritive Technologies, Inc. was founded to develop and market advanced productivity-improving CAD/CAM technologies. VoluMill offers a new genre in high-performance toolpath engines that significantly increases machining productivity and product quality.
