West Boylston, MA - Cogmedix, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Coghlin Companies Inc., has been selected by Convergent Dental Inc. as their medical device contract manufacturer, enabling them to efficiently bring their Solea dental laser system to market.
Solea is the first CO2 laser system cleared by the FDA for hard and soft tissue ablation. The system is fast, precise, virtually noiseless, and anesthesia-free for the majority of procedures. Solea aims to eliminate the pain and anxiety associated with dental procedures. With 95% of procedures completed without anesthesia, Solea is well on its way.
"Solea completely changes the dental experience for both the patient and the doctor," said Matt Giza, VP and GM of Cogmedix. "Cogmedix is proud to help bring this innovative technology to the market."
"Solea is a game-changer. We have eliminated the noise, the vibration and the needle from most dental procedures, resulting in an entirely different patient experience, a true paradigm shift," said Michael Cataldo, CEO of Convergent Dental. "Cogmedix's medical device manufacturing expertise, their ability to meet FDA regulations and their willingness to totally integrate with our team gave us exactly what we need in a manufacturing partner."
Cogmedix is providing Convergent Dental with a turnkey manufacturing solution for Solea, including sourcing and inspection of materials, assembly, comprehensive product testing, and packaging for shipment. Cogmedix focuses on FDA-compliant medical device manufacturing, specializing in electro-mechanical and laser-based medical and dental products.
