The Okuma Booth, #S-8500 at IMTS 2010, will feature a new series of horizontal machining centers, the MB-5000H and the MB-8000H. The MB-H series provides a unique combination of high-speed and power in a small footprint. Highly productive with a high speed spindle and reduced non-cutting time, the MB-H series is built on the Okuma Thermo-Friendly Concept which enables the machine to predict and counter thermal deformation, improving accuracy.
Each machine is expandable with modular ATC and APC. To further illustrate the expandability, the MB-8000H will be shown equipped with the new high-speed, expandable tool matrix.
Each machine will be cutting 2 parts (1 part per pallet). The MB-5000H will feature high speed milling and the new Machining Navi M-i software, utilize a ChipBlaster high-pressure coolant system, Renishaw inspection package, Sandvik tooling and Shell lubricants. The MB-8000H will demonstrate heavy cutting using the turn cut function, Kennametal through-spindle-coolant facemills, Renishaw gauging, dataZen software and Shell lubricants.
Also at IMTS, Okuma will introduce and demonstrate a new tool matrix at IMTS. This tool matrix is available as an option on most Okuma horizontal machining centers and can hold from 81 tools to 285 tools depending upon requirements and configurations. This new tool matrix dramatically reduces tool handling time and increases tool capacity, providing expandability in reduced floor space. See the video here.
