Diversified Machine Systems (DMS), an industry-leading designer of 3-axis and 5-axis CNC routers and custom machining centers, announced the successful integration of the new Fagor Automation 8065 CNC control system into their innovative line of routers and custom machining centers.
DMS, a U.S.-based manufacturer known for building some of the most precise and reliable CNC routers and machining centers on the market today, incorporates Fagor controllers into all of their standard product offerings. DMS’ engineering team worked closely with Fagor to ensure that the new technical features and options of the 8065 CMC controller would seamlessly mesh with their routers and machining centers.
According to the manufacturer, some of the improved features enhance the operator experience, and other functions add a greater level of precision to the machining process. The 8065 CNC achieves the best machining quality possible, because of the wide selection of tools that provide tighter tolerances and the best surface quality. Additionally, the adaptive control feature optimizes machining speed and increases machine productivity while maintaining mechanical integrity of the machine and that of the tools being utilized.
“At DMS, we provide our customers with full access to all of the controller’s capabilities and functions and let them determine which to use – that aspect alone sets us apart from our competitors,” states Ed Hilligrass, DMS vice president of sales.
Some of the more notable aspects of the Fagor Automation 8065 CNC controller include:
- Intuitive operation based upon pop-up type browsing coupled with an interface that the operator can easily adapt to his/her work environment. Readily accessible CNC manuals and an auto-search feature enable quick access to information directly on the shop floor.
- Optional IIP (Interactive Icon-based Pages) programming eliminates the requirement for the operator to be proficient in ISO programming language. The operator simply defines the geometry of the part utilizing the data directly off the blueprint, including the tooling & machining conditions information, and the CNC controller does the rest.
- Tool life monitoring during long machining operations or on high repeat production processes. The 8065 CNC automatically checks whether the tool has finished its useful life (set by the user) or not and replaces it with a similar one.
- Tool Wear Detection – the controller monitors the active spindle running time making it possible to check tool deterioration. The change to a new tool is managed automatically based on the criteria set by the operator. These functions ensure continuous operation by eliminating the need to interrupt the machining process.
DMS reports that the new features of the Fagor Automation controller are significant when machining non-ferrous materials, and are particularly important when it comes to machining composites due to their complex structure.
DMS 3-axis and 5-axis CNC routers are ideally suited to machining the wide variety of composite materials available on the market as well as plastics, foam, wood and more. Any industry with a need for automated machining at an affordable price point can benefit from DMS routers and machine centers including: medical, aerospace, construction and infrastructure, marine, mass transportation, thermoforming, vonsumer goods, and more.
