Chicago – Make plans to attend the IMTS 2014 Conferences to learn about Advanced Implementation of Quick-Change Fixturing Technologies Across Machine Platforms.
DATE: Thursday, September 11 from 1:15 PM - 2:10 PM ROOM: W-195
SPEAKER: Paul S. Kieta, National Sales Manager, Jergens Workholding Solutions
Manufacturers continue to recognize the benefits of implementing Quick Change Fixturing technology to reduce set up in addition to their efforts of traditional cutting tool cycle time reduction. Today there are more quick change technologies available than ever before for 5-axis, horizontal and vertical machining centers. This presentation will explore benefits of broadly implementing a quick change fixturing strategy across multiple machining platforms, including 4th axis indexers and rotary tables, to achieve plant wide savings in setup and part changeover time.
The presentation raises the level of the discussion to expand the use of Quick Change Fixturing technology by exploring options for integrating technologies across machining platforms. It increases awareness of the opportunities to complete multiple operations within a single clamping and reducing setup time. It is supported by field application examples, and comparative analyses. The presentation will also showcase how advances in quick change fixturing options and methodologies can help attendees:
• Complete more machining operations in one clamping
• Integrate workholding and fixtures across machines
• Minimize spindle down time
• Free up additional capacity
• Improve profitably on smaller runs
To document the cost-saving benefits of quick change fixturing in real terms, attendees will be presented with methods for calculating direct savings from set up time reduction, savings achieved from reduced tool change time and calculation of recovered machine hours, as well as ROI for a typical installation.
The educational and informative conferences run Sept. 8-11, 2014 in the West Building, Level 1. To register for this or any session, visit www.imts.com/education/imtsconference.html.
