Chicago – Make plans to attend the IMTS 2014 Conferences to learn about Measurement Systems to Optimize Automation Processes.
DATE: Tuesday, September 9 from 1:15 PM - 2:10 PM ROOM: W-195
SPEAKER: Scott Everling, Sr. Consultant-Special Solutions Group, Hexagon Metrology Inc.
The use of high precision measuring devices operating in production environments has been well known. With more and more automation being applied to part handing and assembly tasks, opportunities have been created for the intersection of measurement technologies with factory automation devices such as industrial robots. These combinations usually take one of two forms. The first is using the robot as a carrier for a device to perform automated inspection. The second is to employ the metrology device as a method to improve the absolute accuracy of a robotic system, allowing high precision guidance for automated assembly applications. This presentation will show through real world case studies the application of each technique to real-world production processes and the resulting improvement in productivity and efficiency.
The educational and informative conferences run Sept. 8-11, 2014 in the West Building, Level 1. To register for this or any session, visit www.imts.com/education/imtsconference.html.
