This conference session will provide an overview of vision guided robotics (VGR) and the integration of this valuable technology as part of a flexible automation manufacturing environment. The session will educate attendees about the basics of key machine vision components for robotic guidance, and best practices for implementing VGR on a plant floor. The speaker will discuss general theory of both 2D and 3D robotic guidance including techniques for calibration, part and feature location, and robot/vision system communications. The presentation will provide examples of varying technology offerings in today’s marketplace. The discussion will include real-life examples and details of how to achieve successful integration in two or three applications and how those applications facilitate flexible automation. The session will conclude with a forward-looking evaluation of related future trends and technology to watch for in coming years. The presentation will be targeted for both engineering professionals and project/corporate managers involved in or interested in the integration of machine vision guided robotics.
