DMG / Mori Seiki USA wishes to thank our many associates and manufacturing community friends for the heartfelt messages we have received regarding the plight of our Japanese colleagues in the aftermath of the Tohoku earthquake and subsequent tsunami.
The employees of Mori Seiki and DMG in Japan have been very fortunate; they and their families are accounted for and safe. The impact to Mori Seiki facilities has been very minimal, with no damages occurring in our Iga, Nara, Nagaoka City (Taiyo Koki), Nagoya and Tokyo locations.
Minor damages were incurred to the office building at Chiba and at Isehara (Magnescale) locations and repairs to our facilities are already underway. Runoffs at Chiba have been voluntarily suspended until March 31 to assist with the alleviation of widespread power conservation in that region. At this time, we do not expect any serious delays in
production and delivery of Mori Seiki machine tools. The situation remains to be seen as to the impact on lead times for other materials in our supply chain.
Although operations at our production sites continue, the company is still evaluating the full impact of the earthquake on our surrounding users and is available twenty-four hours a day for their service needs. For more information on how to receive service domestically in Japan, please visit www.moriseiki.com.
We recognize that the good fortune of our overseas colleagues is tempered by the reality that countless others are
suffering in Japan as a result of this great disaster. DMG / Mori Seiki USA expresses our deepest sympathies to all of those affected by the Tohoku earthquake and recommends that individuals who wish to support recovery efforts do so by making a donation to the American Red Cross “Japanese Earthquake and Pacific Tsunami” fund at www.redcross.org .
