NOVO Optimize – powered by VIMANA

Chicago, Illinois – System Insights has entered into a partner agreement with Kennametal, where VIMANA-based tooling and machine optimization software technology will be marketed through the Kennametal sales channel under the NOVO Optimize brand.

“Kennametal has successfully partnered with SI over the last few years to co-create “NOVO Optimize which is the newest manufacturing intelligence application in the NOVOsphere,” says Colin Tilzey, director of Kennametal’s Innovation Ventures Group. “It collects real-time data on how your cutting tools and machines are performing and also provides analysis of where process efficiencies or capacity improvements are available. Under this initiative, VIMANA becomes a key enabling technology for our NOVO Optimize platform and solidifies our relationship with System Insights."

The machine optimization capabilities incorporated into NOVO Optimize were originally developed by System Insights and have been on the market for several years under the VIMANA Core brand. The new tool optimization capabilities, jointly developed with Kennametal, are now also available to System Insights clients as an add-on module called VIMANA Tooling.

VIMANA software monitors and manages machine and tool productivity 

The VIMANA platform is the only commercial software product that combines a comprehensive real-time data solution, based on the MTConnect data standard, with multi-dimensional, complex reasoning and machine learning technologies to deliver predictive manufacturing solutions for both machining-based discrete and process manufacturing industries.

VIMANA Core identifies periods of production losses using a sophisticated classification engine, and provides users with the information and insight needed to improve utilization. VIMANA Core includes real-time dashboards as well as historical reports and analysis; it integrates with a wide range of modern and legacy factory equipment using the MTConnect open standard for machine tool data interoperability.

VIMANA Tooling measures actual process parameters and cycle times for cutting tools, tracks tool life and usage patterns and helps reduce discrepancies in actual tool usage relative to plan. Analytics are also provided to identify and recommend tool selection and process parameters.
