Marposs Monitoring Solutions

Provides monitoring systems for complete production fields along the entire production chain.

Marposs Corp. announces Marposs Monitoring Solutions, a new initiative to provide monitoring systems for complete production fields along the entire production chain. Marposs Monitoring Solutions is a corporate group of companies having the following responsibilities:

•    Artis – process monitoring consisting of tool breakage, tool missing, and tool wear including adaptive control
•    Brankamp – process monitoring for massive forming and press work processes; also collision monitoring for metal cutting processes
•    Marposs – machine condition monitoring and customized applications.

Using a variety of sensors, software and control systems, Marposs Monitoring Solutions can provide real-time process monitoring, detection of machine conditions, spindle and structural vibrations, collisions, unexpected machine down time, tool breakage, tool wear, overload and free cutting. By the monitoring of this wide range of abnormal process conditions, Marposs Monitoring Solutions offers the benefits of high cutting rates, less machine supervision, production and investment reduction, and reduced operating hours.

The Artis sensor-less DTA (Digital Torque Adaptor) is an example of the perfect solution for tool and process and monitoring. Used with the Artis CTM control unit for flexible production or Artis Genior Modular for mass production applications, the system uses multiple axis motor driver signals to provide reliable monitoring of tool wear, tool failure and missing tool. The DTA system is easy to install, has high sensitivity, high flexibility and is available for all machines providing digital data via Profibus or Ethernet. When digital data cannot be provided by motor drivers, Marposs Monitoring Solutions offers a wide range of standard or customized sensors to suit the customer’s needs.

Monitoring systems available with the Marposs Monitoring Solutions program provide fully automated data management. Once the workpiece is identified, the system monitors, controls and adjusts the tool accordingly. The system has many human interfaces available: process visualization, process overview, analysis and statistics. The operator can access the system information to adjust parameters to achieve the best process control. Where a connection between machines and the company network is not available, the Brankamp FactoryNet system can provide networking of the manufacturing process, producing a real time clear, quick, and cost effective overview.
