Mazak Celebrates Grand Opening of Northeast Headquarters and Technology Center

Mazak Corporation's North American headquarters complex in Florence, Kentucky is expanding its leading network of Regional Technology Centers with a new Northeast Headquarters and Technology Center in the Hartford, Connecticut area.

(WINDSOR LOCKS, CT) - July 19, 2006 -- Mazak Corporation's North American headquarters complex in Florence, Kentucky is expanding its leading network of Regional Technology Centers with a new Northeast Headquarters and Technology Center in the Hartford, Connecticut area.

Mazak has supported the Northeast U.S. region for 25 years with a Regional Sales and Technical Center in South Windsor, CT established in 1981. The new Northeast Headquarters facility is located in Windsor Locks, Connecticut, 10 minutes from Hartford's Bradley International Airport, and covers 19,000 square feet, a nearly 90% increase from the 10,400 square-foot original building. Area manufacturers can use the facility for exploring advances in manufacturing process development or turnkey manufacturing solutions. It can also host technical seminars on the latest manufacturing advances and demonstrate such Mazak developments as Integrex multi-tasking technology, Variaxis 5-axis machining, and Nexus high-speed CNC turning and machining centers.

"Today, advanced product designs and excellent manufacturing facilities are not enough," said Mazak President Brian Papke. "It is necessary to get more deeply involved with customers and not merely sell machines, but truly develop solutions for customers from an engineering, applications and service focus. Drawing from our manufacturing experience, Mazak must help our customers integrate more productive equipment to their operations so they too can be competitive and profitable manufacturing in the U.S."

These were the reasons Mazak created Technology Centers in key areas throughout North America. "The idea is to partner with customers, suppliers and educational institutions to create unique manufacturing solutions," Papke continued. "We will make the investment to be the leading innovator of machine tools and to build facilities like this Technology Center to help our customers and train them in using the latest technology available."

The new Northeast Regional Headquarters will provide the region's growing manufacturing industries, especially in aerospace, medical, electronics, and diversified contract manufacturing, with improved technical and service support application. Engineering and service functions include:

  • process development and technology demonstrations
  • turnkey system integration tailored to individual company production needs
  • technical seminars
  • access to related expertise such as CAD/CAM, automation, and tooling strategies
  • factory-trained service employees (20 service engineers) dedicated to the region
  • 24-hour-a-day in-person dedicated service technical phone support
  • the industry's most responsive spare-parts network and exchange program for rebuilt units and shipment
  • Total investment is approximately $5 million.

The new facility will serve as Mazak's Northeast Regional Headquarters and Technology

Center, with satellite sales and technical facilities in Valley Cottage, New York and Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Together they support manufacturers in the New England states, plus Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, Eastern Pennsylvania, and portions of eastern New York state.
