Mazak explores metalworking tools and techniques

Intended for all manufacturing industry segments, Discover More With Mazak, Southwest Technology Center, covers enhancing productivity and versatility on the shop floor.

Florence, Kentucky – Mazak will host a Discover More With Mazak technology and education event at its Southwest Technology Center in Houston, Texas, July 8-9 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Intended for all manufacturing industry segments, the event will showcase the latest metalworking tools, technologies, and techniques for enhancing productivity and versatility on the shop floor.

More than 10 real-world machining demonstrations will take place throughout the two-day event, spotlighting the company’s latest advancements in multi-tasking, 5-axis, milling, turning, and CNC technologies. Mazak applications experts will also be available during the demonstrations to discuss new ways to streamline part-processing operations and sell metalworking capabilities.

Among the many event highlights will be the introduction of the Mazak Quick Turn Universal (QTU) series to the Southwest region. These CNC turning centers, while basic in their design, feature innovative technologies, such as an all-new turret design, that bring high productivity, precision and value to job shops focused on small part production.

The QTU Series consists of 2-axis models as well as upgraded machine configurations that include rotary tool milling, second spindles, and Y-axis capability – establishing one of the most affordable levels of performance in single-setup part manufacturing. The 2-axis QTU 350, which processes parts up to 16.25" in diameter, will be the model that represents the Series at the event.

Also offering an unmatched price/performance ratio, the Vertical Center Universal 500A will demonstrate how its 3-axis machining and pallet-changing capabilities bring efficient, highly accurate small parts processing to shops working with basic workpiece geometries.

Another event must-see will be the Integrex i-200ST multi-tasking machine featuring Mazak’s all-new Smooth Technology process-performance platform that spans the entire part-production landscape, from programming to metal removal to data collection. The machine employs the new Mazatrol SmoothX CNC that is four times faster than its predecessor and allows users to benefit from shorter machining cycle times, especially in simultaneous 5-axis operations and free-form die-mold machining.

Attendees focused on large part production will want to see demonstrations of the Quick Turn Nexus (QTN) 450-II MY and the new Quick Turn Nexus 550MY. Both turning centers feature rotary milling and Y-axis capabilities to process long, large workpieces in single setups.

Other machines at the event that will focus on large part production include:

  • Orbitec 20 that creates true turned surfaces on workpieces that are difficult to rotate
  • Horizontal Center Nexus 6800-II that brings precision and value to high-volume operations
  • Vertical Traveling Column 250D/50 that features a powerful 50-taper, high-torque spindle, full traveling column, and fixed table for machining extremely long and heavy workpieces

A special additive manufacturing display will focus on the company’s recently announced Integrex i-400AM Hybrid multi-tasking machine. Attendees will see how this forthcoming turnkey solution represents an innovative alternative to conventional part processing in terms of design and machining.

During the event, attendees will be able to hear Mazak applications experts and industry partners discuss the latest advancements in manufacturing technology through a variety of presentations. Please note seating for the below presentations is limited so please register for the event as soon as possible.
