Mazak’s new Vertical Center Nexus Center (VCN) 530C-II TT features a twin-table changing design to cost-effectively process both smaller and larger, longer workpieces on the same machine. Plus, it includes two integrated load stations at the front of the machine that provide fast and easy part loading/unloading, as well as enhanced operator efficiency.
Twin tables on the VCN 530C-II TT deliver the continuous production benefits of a two-pallet changer. Smaller separate workpieces fixture onto each of the two machine tables, measuring 25.4” x 21.6”, that move in and out of the machine within a 12-second change time for loading and unloading at the two front stations. The tables accept any combination of rotary tables, tilting tables, and stationary vises to further part processing versatility, and all workholding system cabling remains connected during table changes.
For machining large and long workpieces, the machine’s two separate smaller tables join to form one big CNC controlled worktable measuring 51.18” long and 21.6” wide.
With machine axis travels of 58.6”, 20.8” and 20.0” in X-, Y-, and Z-axes, the VCN 530C-II TT twin tables each accommodate workpieces up to 24.41” long x 26.65” wide x 18.5” high and weighing as much as 1,323 lb. The single table handles workpieces as big as 47.24” long x 26.65” wide x 18.5” high that weigh up to 2,646 lb. All within a machine that has a footprint of only 173.22” x 137.8”.
VCN 530C-II TT machine axes incorporate Mazak’s MX Hybrid Roller Guide System for durability and reliability, resulting in long-term accuracy. This innovative way system increases vibration dampening, extends tool life, handles higher load capacities, and eliminates tramp oil in the coolant by using a greener grease-based lubrication system.
The machine’s CAT 40-taper spindle is mounted on a rigid column and operates at speeds up to 12,000rpm (18,000rpm optional) with 15hp (30 minute rating) for heavy duty and high-speed machining. A 30-tool (48-tool optional) capacity magazine-style tool changer provides fast change times and ample tooling for continuous machining operations.
Mazak’s Matrix Nexus CNC control simplifies metalworking operations on the VCN 530C-II TT. Conversational part programming can be accomplished in Mazatrol language while the machine is cutting another part, or off-line in a CAD/CAM system. Once imported into the control, a realistic 3D cycle simulation verifies the machining cycle and checks for machine interferences, reducing the need for test cuts.
