Enfield, Connecticut – PTR-Precision Technologies Inc. recently commissioned another new electron beam welding system to its already extensive job shop capabilities. The new system is of the smaller chamber class to allow faster throughput with short pumping cycles and multi-station fixtures. It is built to better serve our customers with smaller component sizes and higher volumes. The system has full 5-axis CNC control with 15kw power capability and is fitted with the most advanced high speed deflection with EBO Jump “multi-beam” welding ability. The new welder will compliment eight other existing EB Welding systems currently in operation at PTR’s Enfield, CT job shop.
Gary LaFlamme, PTR’s contract welding job shop manager says, “I’m excited to have the addition of PTR’s newest electron beam welder in the job shop. It provides a prime opportunity to develop a new area of the job shop business in which smaller components can be welded most efficiently allowing us to be very competitive in this market.”
In addition to the new electron beam welding system coming on-line in the job shop, PTR has also invested in a new metallurgical laboratory to support both production systems manufacturing and job shop applications work. New automatic polishing and metallurgical mounting stations as well as microscopes with advanced image analysis software are being used to develop welding processes and maintain the quality standards of the electron beam welding performed for PTR’s customers.
