Reduce costs, boost product quality in medical device manufacturing

Bird-In-Hand, Pennsylvania – Product designers and engineers who are looking design complex custom parts are often faced with the task of identifying a CNC Swiss screw machining partner that is right for their needs. Vallorbs Jewel Co. has recently released a “How to Choose a CNC Swiss Screw Machining Partner Checklist” that provides the questions engineers should ask a potential machining partner.

Designers often overlook the specific capabilities of machine shops prior to submitting design specs or RFQs, which can lead to unnecessary production costs, product defects, and material limitations. Some CNC machining partners can even assist in designing the product so that it is easier to manufacture, thus cutting costs. This checklist is designed to help prevent these problems from the start.

“We have identified a number of specific questions that engineers should be asking before partnering with a CNC machine shop,” said Ken Rinier, general manager at Vallorbs. “Knowing the maximum tolerances, run-size capabilities, available materials, and even delivery record of a potential partner can ensure that you get the best possible end product.”

Product designers and engineers who require parts with specific materials, are expensive, and require part-to-part consistency or extremely tight tolerances are encouraged to download the “How to Choose a CNC Swiss Screw Machining Partner Checklist.”
