Analogic Corporation a leading provider of medical imaging and aviation security technology, announced today that its ultrasound business, BK Medical, has introduced a full back-up power solution for the Flex Focus(TM) family of mobile ultrasound systems, including the newly introduced Flex Focus 700 Surgical Ultrasound System.
"The new BK Power Pack significantly enhances the value of the Flex Focus ultrasound systems in both the surgical suite and the emergency room by providing clinicians the freedom to attend to their patients with no downtime between procedures," said Michael Brock, president of BK Medical. "The Flex Focus is one of the first cart-based ultrasound system to feature such a powerful, full back-up power solution, which we believe will improve overall departmental efficiency and patient care, as well as reduce patient wait times."
The fully charged BK Power Pack will provide approximately four hours of continuous operation and three hours of uninterrupted scanning time, which includes both scanning and freezing during each patient exam. As a result, the power pack enables the Flex Focus ultrasound systems to be unplugged and easily moved between patients or among imaging rooms without interruption to scanning or procedure time. The BK Power Pack can be charged while the ultrasound system is plugged in, or with a separate charging station in less than three hours. In addition, the power-save mode conserves battery power and increases battery life when not in use, and when the system is placed in "Instant On Mode," it immediately changes from power-save to active mode. BK Medical used environmentally sound manufacturing and material choices when developing the new back-up power pack, resulting in a product with a life cycle designed to have very little environmental impact.
