Laboratory Testing for DuPont Tyvek Transition Protocol

Nelson Laboratories officials announce that the company has been selected by DuPont Protection Technologies’ Medical and Pharmaceutical Protection unit to provide testing in support of a DuPont Tyvek 1073B and Tyvek 1059B transition project.

As an independent testing laboratory, Nelson Laboratories will provide pre- and post-sterilization evaluations of Tyvek packaging including pouches, header bags, flexible and rigid blisters and rigid tray-and-lidding combinations provided by medical device manufacturers.

Nelson Laboratories was selected from among four finalists and was chosen due to its quality systems and capabilities.

“Nelson Laboratories has been investing in its technical expertise, capabilities, equipment and facilities to accommodate the increasing requirements of the medical device, pharmaceutical, tissue and natural products industries over the past several years,” Nelson says.

Nelson Laboratories’ will begin operations in a newly acquired building in early July increasing its total laboratory facilities to more than 125,000ft2 and will accommodate a staff of more than 400 people.

The testing of samples is scheduled to begin in early 2013. Expected to last at least 10 years, the testing program will include visual inspection, package integrity, seal-strength testing, microbial barrier testing and will include both accelerated and real-time aging.
