Sil-Pro, a world-class contract manufacturer of molded medical components, assemblies, and devices, announced today the appointment of Thomas Shurson to the newly created position of vice president of Contract Manufacturing.
Kevin Carver, president, made the announcement and stated, "Mr. Shurson's appointment to this new position demonstrates Sil-Pro's commitment to the medical industry. Expanding our single source supply capabilities requires the leadership, depth of experience, and creativity that Mr. Shurson brings to Sil-Pro. With Mr. Shurson joining our company, we strengthen our leadership team even more to meet future manufacturing challenges serving the medical industry.
"Mr. Shurson will be responsible for the further development and expansion of Sil-Pro's contract manufacturing operations that includes thermoplastic molding of implantable and disposable medical components and devices," Carver states. "These capabilities augment Sil-Pro's silicone molding and silicone overmolding onto plastic components, as well as all value added services through the final assembled product. These services include concept through commercialization."
Prior to joining Sil-Pro, Shurson was director of global quality for four years for ATMI, headquartered in Danbury, CT, supplying process materials and process technology for semiconductor, display and life science industries. He was director of product management / global customer service for August Technology of Minneapolis for six years, a company providing automated defect detection systems for microelectronic devices. Prior to that, Mr. Shurson held operations and quality manager positions for fifteen years with Fluoroware/Entegris of Chaska, MN, a worldwide provider of semiconductor and materials management products.
