EDM hole machining capabilities has been added to the range of offerings from Richards Micro Tool, a contract manufacturer of Rotary Cutting Instruments (drills, taps, burrs, & reamers). The self-loading machine is capable of drilling diameters ranging from 0.013” to 0.120” and to a maximum depth of 9.8”.
Per Bob Deforest, production manager, “More of our customers are looking at Minimally Invasive Surgery (MIS), so we wanted to bring this capability in-house to support them more efficiently. There is a learning curve anytime you add a new technology but we’re definitely glad we did it & so are our customers.”
Richards has also added additional capacity to its centerless grinding area.
In addition to contract manufacturing for medical/dental OEMs and private labeling for major cutting tool OEMs, Richards also offers an extensive line (890+ products) of industrial off-the-shelf cutting tools from 0.005” to 0.500” diameter.
