The Mowidec-TT non-contact spindle-centering system – available from Toolnet International Inc. in the U.S. and Wibemo SA in Switzerland – can precisely center tooling on Swiss-type automatic lathes without removing either the guide bush or the tools; and with some small adaptations, the system can check the alignment of the headstock, guide bush and sub-spindle. It can also be used on other machine types, including multi-spindle lathes, transfer machines and machining centers. No more dial test indicators.

This procedure is suitable for aligning the drilling spindle in relation to the headstock. By simply changing the sensor bearing ring, it is possible to re-align the secondary-operation machine spindle – or even the spindle and counter-spindle – simultaneously. The simplicity of the Mowidec-TT system is in the digital readout, with its three buttons for re-setting and choosing the measuring mode (imperial or metric) and the measuring unit or resolution. Installation is also straightforward, with only the electronic unit, power supply cable, USB connection cable, two proximity sensors, and adapter rings required.
