The National Institute of Standards and Technology Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP) has launched one of its newest programs in a continued quest to help U.S. manufacturers to become more competitive – Supply Chain Optimization. Today, manufacturers of any size that have multiple tiers supporting them, can benefit from the U.S. Department of Commerce program to increase competitive advantage by developing stronger, more collaborative supply chains.
“Our goal is to help manufacturers align their corporate strategy to their supply chain strategy,” states John Remsey, MEP Supply Chain Optimization lead. “When disruptions occur due to natural factors as well as systemic, manufacturers with a supply chain strategy are able to respond more quickly.”
The program, developed by America’s most trusted source for manufacturing challenges, helps increase visibility and demonstrates how understanding the total cost of ownership helps equip manufacturers to identify and mitigate volatility, while increasing their ability to make the best sourcing decisions.
The MEP program offers a strategic approach facilitated through a coaching and mentoring partnership between the subject matter experts of MEP and manufacturers. Individual offerings are also available in risk management, total cost of ownership and supplier/partner engagements, depending upon the manufacturer’s objectives.
