Approximately 72% percent of medical device companies worldwide feel their prospects in 2010 are better than what they experienced in 2009, according to an industry survey by Emergo Group, an Austin, TX-based medical device consulting and research firm.
Emergo, which surveyed 1,000 medical device companies worldwide, said about 70% of North American companies think their prospects will be better next year as compared to this year. This was the second year of the survey for Emergo Group, which has offices worldwide.
One reason for that sunny outlook is that a good number of companies are pleased with their sales this year. About 37% of all companies in the medical device sector saw sales go up in the last three months, according to the survey. About 32% experienced sales declines in the last three months, while 17% saw no change.
