Help MAGNET Establish 3D Institute in Northeast Ohio

Additive Manufacturing (also called 3-D printing) offers the potential of improved efficiencies in a variety of industry sectors.

This exciting emerging family of technologies, additive manufacturing (also called 3-D printing), has the potential to enable new products and revenue streams for Ohio manufacturers of all sizes.

A group of Northeast Ohio organizations - including MAGNET, NorTech, Case Western Reserve University, the University of Akron, Youngstown State University and others -are partnering to develop a proposal to bring an institute focused on additive manufacturing to Northeast Ohio.

We at MAGNET are looking to attract more industry partners to play a prominent role in this effort. We are especially looking for small- and medium-size manufacturing firms with an interest in additive manufacturing technology.

We believe the presence of an additive manufacturing institute will bring great benefits to all manufacturers in the region.

For more details, download an overview of the proposed TechBelt Additive Manufacturing Innovation Institute. You can also download a listing of the university projects that are being considered for the institute.

Any sincere interest shown by local industry partners will improve the proposal. In addition, even if we are unable to bring the institute to this region, we expect to advance the conversation in the region around this technology in the coming years and months.

With our strong manufacturing base and growing interest in industry and research circles, this is an opportunity that our manufacturing base should not ignore.

This proposal is due by mid-June, so this request is somewhat time sensitive. To express your interest or learn more, contact John Schober, MAGNET director of innovation, voice: 216.432.5325.
