With the medical and dental device industry booming, the Medical Manufacturing Innovations (MMI Toronto) 2012 conference is gearing up for a more comprehensive-than-ever event. From October 24-25 at the International Centre, Hall 6, in Mississauga, the industry’s who’s who will deliver the latest technologies and solutions in medical and dental device manufacturing, headed off by top-notch speakers on topics that matter to players in Canada’s estimated $7 billion industry. Featured application areas include: pharmaceuticals, medical and assistive devices, biotechnology, advanced materials, microelectronics, telecommunications, software, and informatics.
Some of the show highlights include an opening address by Dr. Shaf Keshavjee, the renowned Canadian thoracic surgeon who performed a successful double lung transplant on patient Hélène Campbell earlier this year. He will speak on the topic of Building New Lungs: Biologics and Biomechanic Devices. A keynote address by Dr. Ibraheem Khan, Chief Technology Officer of Smarter Alloys, who will provide a comprehensive review of the past, present and future direction for shape memory alloys (SMAs), an industry that is expected to grow at a rate of 20% a year for the next five years.
